Norwood has a reputation for being ahead of its time when it comes to the sale of alcohol, as it was the first town in Stany County to open an ABC Store. Now, it has become the second town in the state of North Carolina to approve a Social District.
The Town Council passed the vote on December 6th, 2021 after months of developmental ideations between the Town of Norwood and the Central Business District Group.
But what is a Social District? In its most basic sense, a Social District is a designated outdoor area where alcohol purchased from the surrounding locations can be openly consumed. Think of it like the patio of a restaurant, only it extends through the majority of downtown Norwood.
Of course there are rules and stipulations for who, what, and how this alcohol can be consumed. You can find these specifics on the Town of Norwood's website here.
The CBDG is excited to participate in the development in the Social District. We believe it adds to our mission to revitalize downtown Norwood.
Stay tuned for updates on the official launch.
